Anticoagulant
Heparin is a mucopolysaccharide containing sulfate groups and carries a strong negative charge. Its anticoagulant mechanism is to enhance the activity of antithrombin III, enhancing its ability to inactivate serine protease, thereby preventing thrombin formation and inhibiting platelet aggregation to achieve anticoagulant effects.


Selection of Additives and Adaptation to Different Scenarios

Lithium heparin: Considered the ideal choice because lithium ions do not interfere with most biochemical tests (such as blood glucose, enzymes, ionized calcium, etc.) and do not introduce additional sodium ions. This is why heparin lithium separation tubes are the "golden partner" for emergency biochemistry.
Sodium heparin: Relatively inexpensive, but not suitable for sodium ion detection because the pre-stored sodium salt in the tube can severely overestimate the patient's blood sodium level.
Precise anticoagulant dosage: The standard dosage of heparin is typically 10.0~12.5 IU/ml blood. This dose range has been clinically validated and ensures effective anticoagulation within 6 hours, without significantly affecting white blood cell count or morphology due to overdose.
Application Areas
Emergency and routine biochemical testing: This is the most common use of heparin tubes. Due to its fast anticoagulation rate and non-dilution of samples, it is widely used in emergency biochemistry, general biochemistry, and hemorheology assays.
Trace element and blood gas analysis: Heparin has minimal effect on most ions and is suitable for trace element detection. At the same time, it is also commonly used for erythrocyte fragility tests, blood gas analysis, hematocrit tests, and more.
