Viral Transport Medium (VTM) is a specialized specimen collection and transport system designed to preserve the viability and integrity of viruses, chlamydia, mycoplasma, and other microorganisms during transportation from the collection site to the laboratory for analysis. It is widely used in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, research institutions, and public health testing centers for molecular diagnostics and viral detection.

The VTM consists of a sterile tube pre-filled with transport medium and is typically used together with a sterile flocked swab or polyester swab. The carefully formulated medium contains proteins, buffers, and antimicrobial agents that help stabilize viral particles while inhibiting bacterial and fungal contamination, ensuring reliable test results.

Suitable for the collection, transportation, and preservation of clinical specimens from the nasopharynx, oropharynx, nasal cavity, throat, and other sampling sites, Viral Transport Medium supports a variety of laboratory testing methods, including PCR, RT-PCR, viral culture, and antigen testing.
